You voted for Bush twice.

Your opinion means less than nothing.

If you had read the actual report, at the very least you would have seen your last sentence is untrue.

You would also realize that our population skews older and that those people leaving the work force are older as Mircea clearly pointed out by mistake by showing Civilian labor force size.

Sales fell despite many stores’ opening earlier than ever on Thanksgiving Day."

The rest of your post on employment has been discussed ad nauseam.
Counting Thursday though Sunday is moronic when sales started on Monday which i pointed out in the previous comment and you ignored.

I work in retail and attend a sales meeting every Tuesday and a region conference call every Wednesday. Every company i just named did better sales from Monday to Sunday this year than last year mostly because they started sales on Monday and not Thursday night/Friday Morning. You do realize in retail we compete with each other and know each others numbers right ?????

But yea, you keep harping on Thursday through Sunday and forgetting the other 3 days of the week, or not knowing that many companies did double the projected sales the week before thanksgiving.

you are out of your league.

With your attitude and intelligence, I'm sure you'll have a stellar career in retail and customer service. I'll bow out of this futile, "out of my league" discussion now........

Wouldn't these 735000 lost fulltime jobs, as most will probably be eligible for UE, show up in the UE numbers.
If you create 1 065 000 and lose 735 000, then you will have created 330 000 jobs.

Not exactly..

If you create 1,065,000 part time jobs, and lose 735,000 full time jobs, you REDUCE the work hours and economic output..

not sure if thats what happened here since I havent read the report, I'm just saying..

Because they want people to shop "early bird deals". The Black Friday season actually goes from the Monday prior to the following Monday, which used to be a Cyber Monday but now it's all really one big week, for all intents and purposes. Either brick and mortar or online, the sales last longer.
