The Police have rocket launchers and Bradley's? I've been LE for 9 years and have never seen any of these.
I haven't seen it either, but I feel a lot better off knowing the rifle in the trunk is a M-16/AR-15 instead of a Ruger 10/22.
As you know, typical modern high capacity handguns used will have at least two extra magazines carried on the Officer, sometimes three. That should be enough to at least fortify someone and pin them down until backup arrives. It's a lot better than that 5 or 6 shot revolver years ago. That's what happened in the '86 Miami FBI shootout I posted a few pages back. They were apprehending known felons who were both U.S. Army Veterans and one had Vietnam combat experience and been in and survived many of fire fight battles. He was no rookie, he's the one with the Mini-14 that wouldn't go down no matter how many times they shot him. After that the FBI realized wheel guns are a nice paperweight in law enforcement now.......ancient history.
It does not sound far-fetched to me at all, but it has been something I have studied and read a lot about.
People don't realize that FBI and CIA agents often act as provocateurs during marches and protests-they want unrest in order to diminish the crediblity of activists and protestors and possibly even to declare marshall law. There was one provocateur during the Philly march that was trying to get others to provoke Cops along with him-protestors just laughed at him as they knew he was most likely an undercover agent.
The Two Most Misguided Notions in America:
1. Our Government wouldn't really do that to us
2. If they did, they'd tell us about it on TV
The defense/ military complex continues to produce substantially more equipment than the military needs.
When the US doles out foreign military aid, the funds tend to be used to pay US manufacturers for military equipment.
When the US gifts other countries/ rebels with military equipment it sometimes is used against the U.S.
The defense/ military complex directly and indirectly employ's a heck of a lot of uS people. Politicians have a better chance of being reelected when they bring home the federal bacon, while screaming about out of control federal spending.
Eventually, excess military equipment makes its way to some municipal police forces.
That happened over 20 years ago...how many times has this happened since?
Several hundred, if not thousands, of times since. Easily a monthly occurrence now, and several times a month during summer. North Hollywood set a blueprint that has been followed many times since. Shootouts against criminals with body armor and high powered weapons are so common now that they rarely get past local news.
As an example, there was an even more brutal shootout than North Hollywood in Stockton in July (including the criminals using 3 full auto AK-47s for 5 minutes = ~9000 rounds fired). Did that make anyone's news outside northern California?
A rocket launcher is not a grenade launcher, they're two different things. LE has been using grenade launchers for some time, mostly to deploy tear gas or smoke. I've never seen one (in my own experience) used to launch actual high explosives. The liability is too great.
When President Obama ran for the office one of his cited goals was the nationalization of law enforcement. I was surprised by how much apparent support he got for that since centralization of power in the Capitol would lead to less of a voice for the States.
It is the government that released military equipment to local police. This seems to be unpopular with a lot of people but could serve a purpose. If there is enough opposition to the militarization of local police forces perhaps more people will support a plan for a National Police Force?
Just wait until you see how militarized they are!
