Good thing in the US we don't limit the practice of religion and deny people a place of worship. If this was a synagogue for a small population of Jewish people that lived within a town that was mostly Christian, I would expect the Jewish would also be able to have a place of worship even those they were the minority in the community.

Yes, the centuries-old UK tradition of private arbitration in civil matters - like the interpretation of a will - extends to using religious authorities to determine who gets what. The Jewish councils known as Beth Din has worked like this since the 19th century, sometimes settling quite serious disputes in both business and family matters. And they, like the Muslim councils, still have to operate within UK law and only have authority if both parties have agreed previously.

It's a very old arrangement and it has only come to the forefront because OMG Muslims! sells newspapers.

Why not? So you like Islam, huh? What do you like best, the way that women and homosexuals are treated in Islamic countries? The people who riot in the streets when someone makes a cartoon that mocks their god? The people who demand that a sign with the word "bacon" in it be taken down because god tells them that bacon is bad? Or are there so many good things that you can't pick just one?

Why not? Because when you start a system of discrimination, it invariably grows. Today, it's Islam. Tomorrow it's Judaism, or Catholicism, or Sun worship. The United States is a nation of laws. If a religion promotes an activity that is against the law, then the lawbreakers can still be punished. As long as the state's interest in that law is important enough to outweigh Freedom of Religion, then the law stands. Any of the Sharia interpretations (and they are interpretations) that go against established law, is still breaking the law. But laws against the practice of religion, the FREE practice of religion, a RIGHT that is guaranteed by the the US Constitution, are assertions that the Constitution is not strong enough, that our laws aren't strong enough. If you believe in the US Constitution, you have to believe in it all the way. You have to support it all the way. "All men..." The Constitution must apply to EVERYONE in the United States. Not to "some men", but not "others". The Constitution is about there not being "others". WE the PEOPLE. If WE the People are free to follow a religion, that ALL of us must be free to follow a religion. If our government is forbidden from placing one religion above all others, then that applies to all religions. Our Constitution is our defense against a theocracy. Weakening the Constitution is simply a stupid thing to do.

This country, and any country really, would be better off without Islam.
And discrimination already exists in this country and has been sanctioned by the supreme court. University admissions are the most prominent example.

I like freedom. That means that both Muslims and people like you get to air their opinions.

Right-wing Christians do far more damage than Muslims, starting in the US and working outwards. Yet despite their worthlessness they should still be allowed to handle snakes or whatever it is they do. Best place for 'em, in my opinion.
