I don't know if you were just being sarcastic or if you were serious, but if you were serious, I think you may have misunderstood my post. Or I wrote it poorly. Either way, I don't care what England's taxes are spent on (for the most part).

And no, I don't think the rule. The King/Queen haven't had any real authority for several hundred years.

That's 5 billion dollars every year.

This taxing thing is cool. Just take a little amount from each person in a massive group. So each person would be just taxed such a small amount that no one will complain, while you're profiting big time.

Britain has a better-functioning government than the US does, so I wouldn't begrudge the existence of the Royals.

The monarchy appears to bring in as much in tourist revenue as they cost, at least in years with familial events like births.
Is the British Royal Family Worth the Money? - The Atlantic

Tourists love the monarchy, the castles, the pomp and ceremony.

Maths not your strong point?

Population of the UK is 64.1 million. Multiply $0.83 by 64.1 million = $53 million. Compare that with the $1.4 billion it costs to run the White House annually and it doesn't sound so bad.

Both Prince William and Prince Harry have jobs--they don't "live off the taxpayer dime". Can't recall exactly what they do--one of them is a pilot that flies rescue missions for stranded people or something like that.

And every politician we have here seems to get lifelong pensions no matter how short their term, so we're not one to talk.

Edit: Prince William is an air ambulance pilot. Prince Harry has been in the Army for years, flying an Apache helicopter.

Cost the Brits very little, those Royals bring a lot of wealth to England, it's just the young liberal generation over there that complain about them, without the Royals England would be nothing , hard to believe neither Kate or William have never been to NY before now , I love to see those Royals

I never bought into this. But they're beloved celebrities and icons.
