No it wouldn't have. Kitty Genovese was in 1964 and that made national headlines.

This is about as horrific as it gets, if it happened 50 years ago it would have gone national or even worldwide.

I can't believe they haven't caught this monster yet. Why aren't they letting the public know what she said before she died?

A prime example of someone who clearly deserves a dose of capital punishment.

I'll tell you what ... social media is always very interesting:

For what it's worth, Anonymous has a great track record.

This makes me sick.

Apparently it did at the time. Do you think that getting stabbed multiple times while neighbors heard the screams , watched and otherwise did nothing, might have had something to do with this making national news? Was it not the behaviour of the neighbors and that this woman's death could have been prevented if only. ............that caused national outrage?

Well in reality a lot of that has come out to have been exaggerated. There was only one neighbor who actually saw what was going on, he was a gay man who had been harassed by the police and was hesitant to call the police. There was a woman who was a neighbor of Kitty's who came out of her apt not knowing if the killer was gone or not to comfort her in her dying moments. She risked her own life and called out to the gay guy to call the police and he finally did.

Most of the "eyewitnesses" saw nothing. They heard screaming which stopped but didn't see anything, of course they still should have called. There was a documentary on one of the cable channels on this about a month ago.

One couple yelled at for the guy to get away from the woman, he did retreat and they thought that was the end of it and went to bed.

The way it was presented to the public for so long it sounded like people were leaning out their windows watching her get stabbed, that wasn't the case.

BTW, there was no 911 at the time, the call went to the desk of the local precinct, and an officer determined whether to send out a car. It was due to this incident that NYC implemented 911.

Horrific stories have always made their way into the press nationally.

Long before there was Facebook.

Maybe because that is only something the killer knows because she might have said a clue ....that is why .
