Housing glut could help war wounded - Yahoo! News (broken link)

Well at least something good will come out of the housing slump. No war veterans should be homeless in this country if we can help it.

what I don't understand is why some non profit organization has to do this? Why the hell isn't our government helping its mercenariness when they come home. That is infuriating to me. I have a friend who went over there and came back messed up (mentally) and the government has done everything to not have to pay this guy. Absurd, indeed.

Wild Style

You would have the government give housing to unemployables. That would destroy the basis of our American Economic System. People on this board would call you a "socialist" and corruptor of proper economic thought. Horrors!

Good idea though. Have the government bail out the banks, but not the REIT investors, at 10 to 20 cents on the dollar of remaining mortgage, kick out the speculators and give the houses to needy veterans. Yeah, good idea!

NO

Do NOT bail out the borrowers, I am 100% against that. let their arses flounder. I am talking about war vets who come home and have to live in cars and stuff. I find that absolutely disgusting. As for people thinking I am a corrupter of economic principles, I have a degree in economics while they may have degrees in googling. So I doubt they have any real perception of sound economic thought. Besides you don't have to be a heartless savage to believe in sound economic principles.

Don't attack me. The first couple of sentences were pure sarcasm. Or at least I thought so.

I was agreeing with you. Distributing foreclosed and/or abandoned houses to wounded veterans is a great idea. Letting anyone freeze in the dark is cruel. Allowing disabled Veterans to do so is dishonorable and a national discrace.

An overwhelming percentage of elderly homeless men are Vietnam Veterans.
Will they get houses also?

Sorry, would you mind elaborating on that "mercenaries" comment?
