It is classy, but doesn't hold a candle to the Texas Battle Flag, of Gonzales.

Some people draw much more in Medicare benefit than they ever paid in, and vice versa, making it a form of redistribution. Usually folks of your persuasion claim that redistribution of almost any kind is socialism. I am glad to see you are moving away from that fallacy.

So what? Younger Americans with insurance do the same. Do you think that a younger cancer patient pays enough into their insurance policy to cover their treatment costs? Of course they don't! What do you think the solution should be? Let senior's die?

With Medicare, once you turn 70, you are looked at very closely.
Your productivity is very low, in comparison to the revenue the federal government needs & collects from you. You cost more than you will be able to produce... Your procedures will be selectively dictated by Medicare, not your doctor to improve your quality of life. If you are retired military, you cost the gov. more than just medical. You will be culled from Medicare first. It is run like a business, with the lowest overhead possible, prioritization people.

The attitude was to demonize seniors for their medical costs and I merely addressed that. I am a senior and have had no problems getting the medical care I need. What the future holds I don't know but there is no excuse to jump all over seniors because of their medical costs that they can't help because they are aging. I find that uncompassionate attitude repulsive. Have those doing the complaining thought about their grandparents and what their own future medical needs will be when they get old?

I guess I don't understand the remarks that seniors are a burden and not productive so the implication is that they should just die because they are a burden health wise. Well guess what I know many young people who aren't productive either. Besides, we seniors have fought in our wars, have worked and paid taxes all our lives (and still do) and raised our families. Should we deserve to die and not enjoy our grandchildren and our golden years by being denied medical treatment? My wife and I do volunteer work also.

You could say the same thing about insurance. Is insurance redistribution? (Hint: No.)

Of course it is. Private insurance is just not compulsory redistribution.

As my dads care giver in his final years, I can only go by my experience with Medicare and age 70.
