Many years ago, Daniel Patrick Moynihan was chair of a Senate Committee, and said something to this effect:

"Let's pass these tax increases so the minority leader can have this seat next year".

And he was right. They passed it and lost the Senate.

Pelosi did need to pass it to see what was in it for her... Losing the gavel.

Sadly, she didn't learn from the experience.

The Republicans should start by getting rid of the subsidies. Then sit back and watch the leeches scream about the mandate.

As good as that sounds, it is highly unlikely; name one government program that has ever been canceled.

The screeching from those already receiving the subsidies would be ear-splitting.
