If we did it here, taxpayers would be on the hook for the cost of artificial limbs. the lawyers would redefine what constitutes 'stealing' and don't be surprised if a lane closure done for political revenge is interpreted as 'stealing' the time from the backed up traffic. No hands is a slippery slope, we can't handle simple acts.

Oh, and convenience store robberies would result in far more homicides. If stealing a pack of gum is going to get my hands cut off, I'd make the effort to eliminate things that make it more likely I'll be caught, like witnesses.

I don't advocate stoning people to death for being homosexual, comitting adultry, drinking/selling alcohol, legalize slavery/rape against non-believers, special tax non-believers, and other things done by Islam. This is just one idea and proposal that will lower our crime rate and save us money.

Sure. Go big, or go home.

When I was 5, I stole a whistle from the grocery store.

Well, you're going to want to start with repealing the 8th amendment, something that was put in place precisely because many European countries had long histories of such barbaric practices and we didn't want that uncivilized crap here.

Or you could just move to some despotic hellhole in the middle east.

No. Just no.

Given the number of false convictions and falsely imprisoned people, no.

We are not barbarians.

Let's permanently maim someone, preventing them from ever having full use of their limbs again and thereby affecting their legitimate economic future. The taxes on citizens would increase due to government funded prosthetics and therapy, plus the other aid that would undoubtedly go to these people.

No. Just no.

Look, you prefer the European model of commerce. You prefer the Muslim model of (in)justice. Instead of trying to impose all those odd and unwanted changes here, why don't you just go there? It'd be far easier for you. I suggest Turkey.
