Higher wages/profits. No ever increasing health insurance premiums.
It's almost a wash. I know you conservatives don't want to pay a little more so the leaches can have some crumbs but that's life.
Unfortunately -- for your rather limited view of things -- I'm not a "conservative".
It's not "almost a wash".
What was proposed was an additional 9.5% state income tax on an individual. Now, let's say this individual is making $32,551 a year. That's the minimum threshold for a 7.2% state income tax rate. That $32,551/yr. averages out to $15.65/hr. How much higher do you think those wages are going to rise?
And "no ever increasing health insurance premiums"? Do you not think that these new taxes will rise? The government will want more and more of your paycheck, but at $15.65/hr., there's only so much to go around.
Yeah I hate to tell you but the quality of life in the UK is about as high as the US.
You can get around easily here, transit is clean, people are nice and the NHS covers everyone and you have the option of additional private insurance if you desire.

Again, 21% in two separate taxes.
9.5% individual health care tax
7.2 state income tax
15.3 percent FICA
5.2 federal income tax
This is based on a 51k annual gross.
That's 32.9 % income tax ALONE.
Then let's add sales tax and all the other taxes you pay.

When I was in the US last, I had a deductible through my job of $3000.
The NHS is working out for me faaaaaaaaar better.
You mean, you get to steal from others rather than pay your own bills.
I do realize how some people think that's a better thing. They plan their entire lives around stealing from others for what they want, rather than being responsible.
It like all such government support general funded things its only works out for you if your being subsidized by others.many in other countries even benefit because 70& of all medical and drug research is doe and funded in USA. Its kind of like NATO only the US pays twice what is require in 2% of GDP. Only UK even comes close to that 2% but does not meet it. Alot of loafer western nations :IMO.
You think taxes are theft I don't know what to say to you. Its part of the function of government.
This is why I want to stay in the UK.
I work, I've worked for years. I have paid high income tax and I will willing to do so.
But this mentality of services paid for by taxes is theft, I'm done with that. I do not want to live in some sort of 19th century libertarian paradise where everyone gets to live on the street or better yet, go to a workhouse.
