Military.com, "Congress Again Buys Abrams Tanks the Army Doesn't Want", Dec 18, 2014 | by Richard Sisk

"The new defense spending bill includes $120 million for tanks that the Army has repeatedly said it doesn't want.

In a statement, Rep. Mike Turner, R-Ohio, said that Congress "recognizes the necessity of the Abrams tank to our national security and authorizes an additional $120 million for Abrams tank upgrades. This provision keeps the production lines open in Lima, Ohio, and ensures that our skilled, technical workers are protected."

Turner chairs the Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee and will retain that position in the next Congress. His district includes the General Dynamics Land Systems plant in Lima, the only U.S. manufacturer of tanks."

This **** really burns me up, whether R or D. I'm sick of this.

NASA's Mississippi Misadventure Costs More than US $ 350 Million : News : News Every Day

The infrastructure, according to The Washington Post, is the A3 Test Stand, a 30 storey tower in Mississippi that was to test fire rockets meant to courier a spacecraft to moon and Mars. The rocket project was shelved in 2010 but NASA continued to build the tower even when costs rose from $ 110 million. The tower was completed in June this year but immediately mothballed.

There is no accountability. The very office that does that is the government itself.
And sure the GAO says there's waste but nothing is done and no one is held to task.
The GAO does their job of reporting and that's where it ends and everyone seems happy with that situation.

It will only end when we reach a stage of high enough debt to crash our economy.

John Boehner did the same damned thing in Ohio with F-35 engines that were no longer requested or needed.

Yes, Memphis. Wasteful spending is rampant in both parties, taxpayers be damned, and the point of this thread.

You're right. Both Ds and Rs do this. They ask American taxpayers to spend too much money to protect the sacred cows in their districts or states.

Sen Robert Casey D-Pa is one of the politicians who insisted we buy tanks that aren't needed.

Well it really doesn't matter the party because both sides do it and have done it over time.
And who will stop them ? Reality says "No one" because the same crooked politicians keep getting voted back into office.
Can it be changed ? Yes but only by them.

We're screwed no matter how you look at it. Only thing to do is wait until the money stops funneling in and we can't print anymore.

Some of what I would consider wasteful spending is the next guy's means of putting dinner on his table.
