DeBlasio should have kept his mouth shut about any of this.
He holds a public office.
Yes, he is over all of it so of course it's his business. This is the problem in the big picture. No one wanting to upset the police even when they are wrong.

And why shouldn't the NYPD ask him not to come since he sides with the protesters over his own police force ?
That would be a show of hypocrisy on his part.
No it wouldn't. It's a stupid argument that goes, because you understand the people are upset over the miscarriage of justice that you support the police officers being killed.
How I wish we could identify the people calling for dead cops and not ever provide them with police protection for the rest of their life. If one of them ever call 911 for police, nobody would show up. Unfortunately that would be impossible.
A Police Officer was shot and killed in Tarpon Springs, FL early this morning at about 3 am. No details yet except that they apprehended the shooter. There hasn't been a Police officer killed by gunfire in that town since 1928.
It was a very painful day for people all over the country. How quick we forget that people from all different viewpoints have come out to say how wrong it was to not indict in this case. How justice was not carried out here.
How is it wrong for the mayor to note that?
The mayor blamed Garner's death on racism, a backhanded slap at the cops, the GJ, the DA.
He saw fit to say what a good man Garner was, didn't see fit to mention Garner's criminal record Nor that those cops were carrying out the mayor's strict enforcement policy.
His policy and rhetoric were anti-cop from the getgo.
The PBA petition is justified, as were cops turning their backs to BdB in the hospital. He tried playing both sides, but ignoring the violence against cops during the protests showed his true colors.
He needs to speak for both sides he is the mayor, he was very critical of the 2 cops beat up last week to state that he isn't supportive of the PD is a little disingenuous. Does the PBA chief honestly think the mayor of a city doesn't care about policemen, this was just a vindictive overreaction and only escalates what is a very bad situation.

So why didn't he do anything about the protestors (who were protesting in the streets illegally) chanting they want dead cops??? He's done very little to reign these protestors in. It feels like he's giving them free reign in NYC to do whatever they want.
