Why don't we ship the poor to really poor countries so they see why so many in the world believe all US citizens are middle class. Give some in site to what really poverty is. Then maybe they will quit saying charity begins at home.

As an appraiser, my assistant and I would routinely go into the 'hood'. You would find hard-working people trying to make ends meet. But then you would find entire neighborhoods infested with drug houses, etc.

And we would always go armed. Why? Because the cops told us to. Cops have showed up at vacant homes and waited while we did our work because of the danger. We attended a touring Broadway show at the music theater in the fairgrounds, located just south of downtown, but right in the hood. As we were leaving in traffic, headed the half-dozen blocks to the freeway, a gunfight broke out along the street (gunfire very visible ). No cops showed up.

You do NOT want to go sightseeing in bad neighborhoods. If you do, you are a target, and also just flat stupid.
