Please don't be a Republican. Please don't be a Republican. Please don't be a Republican.

ARGH.

A bill proposed by a Republican state lawmaker in Missouri would require a woman seeking an abortion to obtain notarized consent from the baby's father, even if he is physically abusive toward her.
"Just like any rape, you have to report it, and you have to prove it," said Brattin. "So you couldn't just go and say, 'Oh yeah, I was raped,' and get an abortion. It has to be a legitimate rape."

ARGH.

Proposed Bill Would Require Women To Ask Men's Permission To Have An Abortion

Women just get a bowl of cereal. Women just get their hair done. Women just tie their shoes.
Women don't just go and say, "Oh Yeah, I was raped and need an abortion." like it's some kind of afterthought. Or as he's saying, she's just going to lie about it.
This man - who is speaking about and trying to control a person's rights over THEIR OWN BODY... automatically assumes that person will lie about being raped to have a medical procedure performed. Stay classy, bro. Stay classy.

Keep that kind of stuff up Republicans and you will make it easier for Democrats to win in 2016. Surely a bunch of Republican candidates will demand that constitutional amendments be passed to ban same sex marriage, marijuana and abortion.

It will be interesting to see how much traction this outrageously condescending bill gets. I suspect that even in MO, it won't get far.
