I read this morning that North Korea's internet has gone down.
No surprise… for every hacker, there's another hacker. N. Korea made itself a big old fat target for hackers all over the world to go after, and our own government's hackers may have had something to do with it too.
if they come with a machete after you, I hope you run the other way.
Oh, Oh… They're coming over the hill!
Not very likely. You should be worrying more about the surly gun nut who lives next door, Taratova. Those folks have killed far more Americans than ISIS.
And there is no guarantee that they have the means, or the capability of delivering them effectively. Even if they did they certainly don't have the stockpile that we have. Them lobbing a nuke at us, would be akin to suicide.
I'm not too sure them lobbing a nuke at us would be akin to suicide. I don't think our country has the stones for such a retaliation. I don't just mean politicians, I mean the general public. Even if North Korea could launch a nuke at us, don't you think it would be shot down about the time it shows up on radar? I can't imagine NK getting 10 minutes of flight time with anything pointed at the US or its allies before it is shot down.
As far as retaliation, I can't say I would want to punish the citizens of North Korea for an act committed by a munchkin with a bad haircut. I know they're brainwashed and all, but I can't believe it is their fault entirely.

Some idiots destroyed the twin towers, we basically destroyed two countries. Someone nukes us, and we're going to respond. I agree if they fail it wont be as big of a push, but anyone throwing a nuke at us should think twice.

I agree that if someone does nuke us there will be a response. I'm sure it would receive 100% approval to boot. A failed attempt is what I am talking about. Even if North Korea had the ability to strike the US, it wouldn't make it here. There would be a huge backlash, but not to the extent of a successful attack though. Now, there could be some joker that smuggles a dirty bomb here and detonates it. For that, I would hope the gloves come off and we don't restrict our military to the ROE they currently have. In that case, game on, and it's their ass, assuming we know 100% whodunnit. The general public won't be quick to get behind a war based on assumption or conjecture. Not after Iraq and Afghanistan.
