No because there was no DVR, video games, computers, iPhones, Blu Ray movies. Sorry I couldn't live in a time before all of the technology we have today. But I'm only 22, so I guess it's because I never knew a life without all of these gadgets.
Whoever wants to go live back in the 1950s can start by unplugging their computer, throwing away their cell phone, and cancelling their internet service.
You're welcome
I actually know one or two people who don't have a computer, cell phone or Internet service.
I also know an 83-year-old who has a laptop computer, is on facebook and knows how to send and receive emails.
Why shouldn't we look out for ourselves? Why shouldn't we think about how we would have fared in the past? Once we're old we're old for the rest of our lives which will be shorter than those behind us regardless of color and is something all races can and do share. Perhaps the difference is that we don't necessarily feel like perpetual victims and us that to make excuses.
What makes you so special?
Why should that makes you feel special compared to the rest of the world, not even talking about your fellow "non-white" compatriots ? Because you're privileged? Good for you! Then you'll probably tell me you're not... You're old? Well, it's our fate for all.... What exactly?
And furthermore, why should your lack of compassion be the justification for everyone else to live like you remember it as a fantasy so that you like it better ?
The 50's were terrible for most people and not ideal politically either, except when you believed in black and white politics (pun intended)

I didn't miss it. I just don't care.
Don't answer my questions with more questions. Just answer the questions.

I think the question was personally; not bring you with the person answering.
Sometimes statistics don't agree with real life. I am going by actual life and asking those who lived through it. When you add it all up (interest rates for home loans, for example), one paycheck did go farther back then. Also, inflation in general and for food was very low back then.
Food took up a bigger percent of that paycheck than it does today.
Going fwd, just bring back the top tier tax rates of the 1950s and stop with the "poor" vs "middle class" BS.
