If I lacked marketable skills suited for earning enough for a family, I would NOT have kids at that point in time. To have them when you cannot raise them is incredibly selfish.
Then it looks like the majority is incredibly selfish.
So Anthony needs to get a better job using that motivation. That what I did after working as young man;made sure I could get a better job.
It is pretty sad that the minimum wage has not increased much over the $2.00 - $2.50 it was since the 70's, and in the last decade, being around $8.00. Really, it seems it should have increased better than this. Also, if there had been opportunities for on-the-job training, it could have helped to be able to move upwards, since some do not get the chance for an education. Actually, some do not benefit from college anyway with many dropping out while others may have done better with the opportunity. It seems the whole thing needs to change.

On May 1, 1974, the federal minimum wage was $2.00 per hour.
In December 2014, the federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour.
This is an increase of 262.5%. Not a paltry figure.
Why is this a surprise? The United States has 1 of the highest corporate taxes in the world, and they tax US companies for income all over the world, many other countries do not. Eventually companies will find ways to minimize that tax, and moving abroad so that they only have to pay tax on the income actually earned in the United States is the easiest way to do that.
I challenge that even if the United States had one of the lowest corporate taxes in the world and Burger King found a legal loophole not to pay it, they would still have taken the loophole. The game is called capitalism, not patriotism.

I've just skimmed over this ....... has anyone claimed as usual that they had to work 2 8-hour jobs and another on weekends to put themselves through college without any sleep, while those damn hippies were smoking pot and fornicating all the time?
Even if you're completely heartless concerning the human factor of minimum wage work, it ought to be of concern that the workers are forced to use food stamps and Medicaid to survive ....... which are mostly funded by ordinary workers, not shareholders.
But of course that doesn't matter as long as there are higher dividends paid to the idle wealthy. After all, it's just raw unfettered capitalism - the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
You can't want massive tax breaks and subsidies from the gov then ask the same government to cover to have to give assistance to your workers because you don't Pay them enough
I'm not going to read this entire thread, but that 1.2 billion taxes that BK will not pay, is the tax on profits MADE OVERSEAS. That means made in countries other than the USA for those who do not understand OVERSEAS.
BK will continue to pay US taxes on all profits MADE IN THIS COUNTRY.
The USA is one of the only countries in the world that charge taxes on profits made in other countries.
