I think the mayor needs to go on an overnight ride-a-long in crime ridden NYC neighborhood, and he might gain a better understanding of what it's like to protect and serve.
He doesn't have the guts for that. Neither does PimpDaddy Sharpton.
For one, did he really run on an "anti-cop" campaign? Did he actually platform that we shouldn't have cops? Or more likely, did he acknowledge that there are problems with our police force that need to be dealt with, and in doing so, get LABELED as anti-cop?
One thing the right does is paint every picture in black and white. Just because someone see's a problem that needs to be fixed (in this case with the cops, but really almost any issue), it doesn't mean they are fully against that entity, only that they are FOR it, and care enough to put some energy into making it better or more effective.
Anything wrong with that? As for the horse carriages, they need better regulations, no running them around the streets, and no running them on extreme weather days.
And yet when I was living there, I would see horse carriages riding down congested streets with passengers aboard, and horses being worked on the hottest days of the year. Must be some very loose rules.

Again, in any dealings with police, especially their unions, there is no rational discourse to be had. You are either with them or against them, on their side, or a cop hater who must have a criminal record. This is the mentality amongst the MAJORITY of law enforcement, at least in the NY tri state area.
They are not a very subtle bunch, capable of seeing or understanding any nuances between different opinions. These are the type of people attracted to law enforcement, and the whole environment around them only boosts this mentality. Again, there are exceptions, but I think this covers the majority.
The first thing you learn when you become a cop, is that you never go against another cop, especially in your own department. When you make that (unwritten) pledge, you have immediately violated your oath to the people you are supposed to serve. .
It's a gang mentality. If you want less aggressive police, that's the first thing that needs to go. It will not be easy.
The police are an unholy mix of leftist union thuggery, and right wing fascist thuggery.
You can make your position stronger by typing FUNERAL with bold, FUNERAL, and underlining, FUNERAL , and add some exclamation points, FUNERAL!!!
True, it seems to be some people here who criticized protesters for protesting this funeral that the police were doing the same thing by protesting at a funeral and should be ashamed of their own action.
I see these videos of Police officers turning their back on Deblasio and I'm not sure why. I can't see any reason why they would blame him for the 2 officers that got shot. The most I can find is that they think he is not backing them. If so, can someone point to what he said? I saw where he said he instructed his black son on how to deal with cops if he's ever stopped and that seems perfectly fine and what I would expect of any parents of black kids.
Either way, I think it is a terribly disrespectful thing for them to do at a funeral of all places....and even the hospital. and I mean disrespectful to the family and the officer at the funeral. They may have differences but now they just took attention away from their fallen officer. There's a time and a place for it and that was not it. If they want to do it at a department meeting or at a political rally, fine. Not at a funeral. I'm actually quite disappointed and saddened that they did that.
Go back in time, develop different values and morality such that one values law, order and the police department and does not embrace political correctness and socialist agendas.
It is pretty simple.
