In this season of giving and seeing the bell ringers of the Salvation Army outside of stores, let us all remember that the Salvation Army at it's heart, is still anti-gay and still in it's approach, a Christian organization. For those of us who are secular and non religious, it's still disheartening to know that many don't know how just how this organization really thinks of those in the gay community. I for one will never donate to this organization.

So if they discover you are the gay, the Salvation Army won't help you? Or do they just not approve of your lifestyle, and for that they must be publicly flogged for it?

Who are you to condemn anyone's religious beliefs?
Do you demand that everyone and every organization share your views and beliefs?
Salvation Army has always been a Christian organization. They should not change for you or anyone else. It's ok that you disagree, you are free not to donate.

Are you attempting to cause strife and ruin an organization that helps a myriad of poor people?
Are you attempting to cause strife and ruin and organization that does charity the right way - which is through private means by people giving according to their free will - rather than the heavy handed government tax and redistribute approach?
What do you really want here?

I agree with your approach - just don't give to them. I don't give to Planned Parenthood, Code Pink, etc. However - I don't throw a public fit because they exist.
Each year, thanks to generous donations, The Salvation Army serves nearly 30 million Americans - or one person every second - from a variety of backgrounds. People who come to us for assistance will be served according to their need and our capacity to help - regardless of race, gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation. The People We Hire
The Salvation Army embraces employees of many different faiths and orientations. Our hiring practices are open to all, and we adhere to all relevant employment laws, providing domestic partner benefits accordingly."
A few activists, true for many social justice causes, irritate so many people that passively or actively support their cause or are at least indifferent or neutral to their lifestyle, stir such a negative response that the instigator concludes that response is directed at the larger community.
The response is directed instead at the fringe activist whose actions lose supporters with outrageous accusations as they manufacture enemies to sustain their divisive efforts.
