No surprise that the gun came from a state with weak gun laws, no background checks, no penalties for straw purchasers, no report on missing guns.

Investigators have traced the gun Ismaaiyl Brinsley used to kill two New York City police officers and wound his ex-girlfriend to a Georgia strip mall 900 miles away. The Arrowhead pawn shop, which bills itself as a “family-owned business dedicated to good prices, good customer service and good vibes,” as of 2010 was the fifth-largest source of guns used in crimes nationally and the number-one source of out-of-state guns seized by the New York Police Department.

There are hundreds if not thousands of people buying guns in NYC and not getting a back ground check. These kinds of laws stop no one from getting a gun if they really want one.

All sales in NYC or NY require a background check, if it's being done illegally that is a different story. How is it that 90% of guns used in a crime come from outside the state?

So the inanimate object from GA is responsible, not the user of said object?

No background checks? You think they're exempt from Federal law?

A background check wouldn't have stopped the first guy from buying the gun. The rest of the story is meaningless pertaining to background checks.

They know who originally bought it and it still happened. No one can trace what happens after it leaves the store whether that store is in NY or Georgia. People get guns stolen all the time and don't even know it.

Are they suggesting that there was no background check performed when he bought the gun. If that is so, the gun shop will be federally prosecuted. BATF doesn't play when it comes to that.
They refer to lax state laws, I'm not aware of any state laws that are not already covered when one fills out the 4473 federal form to purchase a gun and the subsequent background check.

I doubt that people are buying new guns from legitimate gun stores and are not getting background checked. BATF comes in to look at your records and you are not in compliance, you will lose your gun shop.

It's probably easier but that goes to show that just because you make something harder, if someone wants it they are going to do it.

So? That didn't dispute anything I said. Criminals don't care about laws.
