"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."

The question I have is how did biological, chemical and other weapons of mass destruction that we had just disappeared? I can see the selling and trafficing out as a possibility but I have a feeling intel was somewhat off. I think we should have taken over Iraq after the Persian Gulf War and tried Saddam for war crimes in 1991/2. Would have saved us 12 years of bs.

You mean the weapons Iraq had? According to Obama's current Director of National Intelligence, they were moved to Syria very shortly before the invasion.
Quote:
"The director [Clapper] of a top American spy agency said Tuesday that he believed that material from Iraq's illicit weapons program had been transported into Syria and perhaps other countries as part of an effort by the Iraqis to disperse and destroy evidence immediately before the recent war.

The official, James R. Clapper Jr., a retired lieutenant general, said satellite imagery showing a heavy flow of traffic from Iraq into Syria, just before the American invasion in March, led him to believe that illicit weapons material ''unquestionably'' had been moved out of Iraq."

And exactly how would Iraq know to move its illicit weapons right before the invasion? Answer: The treasonous stunt Rockefeller pulled that prompted Iraq to move the weapons:
Quote:
Rockefeller (D-WV): "I took a trip by myself in January of 2002 to Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Syria, and I told each of the heads of state that it was my view that George Bush had already made up his mind to go to war against Iraq, that that was a predetermined set course which had taken shape shortly after 9/11."
Transcript: Sens. Roberts, Rockefeller

Oh, and by the way... Rockefeller voted FOR the Iraq War.

Rockefeller voting for the war might have been something his state wanted at the time. The Iraq war like Vietnam was actually popular when they were in the debate stages. Strange I know...

All of your quotes don't alter the reality: Dubya owns Iraq.

But it is kinda cute how diehards keep trying to shift the blame.

Why did Rockefeller commit treason by warning Iraq's allies, thereby enabling Iraq to move its WMDs to Syria before the invasion?

And would that be the case if we never went to war in Iraq? There is nothing wrong with what he did and I am sure that Iraq knew war was immenent as well. You wouldnt need telegraphing to neighbors as it was talked about for an entire year.

The UN already admitted sanctions and weapons inspections weren't working. Iraq had unaccounted for WMDs, regardless.

Yes but how was Rockerfeller's actions and comments "treason." Most would agree that a country like Iraq could send weapons to Syria and could have done it for years even under the microscope.

He admittedly took it upon himself to give what turned out to be Iraq's ally a heads up before the 2003 invasion. After that, Iraq moved illicit weapons to Syria, according to Obama's own Director of National Intelligence.
