The idiocy of gun-obsessives is that they can't tell the difference between seriously corrupt governments (Africa, Middle East) and ones that are trying to be good but are thwarted by the limits of human nature and greed. If you people would stay on the side of America (regardless of who's President) you'd be the patriots you claim to be.

I don't have a big problem with guns per se, though assault rifles send a bad psychological message and should be limited in civilian hands. The biggest problem with guns is the people who wrap themselves up emotionally in pieces of metal. I've come to see guns as a tool for cowards and degenerate ranters more than anything. I'll name-drop draft dodger and wildlife thrill killer Ted Nugent as a good celebrity example. Uncle Ted is about as patriotic as Tim McVeigh, though not as dangerous; it's the people he riles up that I worry about.
The government may be fair now, but that doesn't mean it always will be.

For the rest of your rant, if you think the republicans and democrats are different then you are not paying attention. And the only people who have become wrapped up emotionally in guns is the anti gun proponents that take blaim away from people and place it on objects.

Yes, because a few videos represents all confrontations. if you are a bad guy with a gun and someone reaches for something that might be a gun, it is in your best interest to shoot that person you are robbing.

The French aren't as gun crazy as we are, but they do carry knives a lot. And billy clubs, blackjacks, brass knuckles, and everything but a gun. All that stuff is easier to ditch and easier to replace than a gun. The French also use all that stuff on each other, a lot. All the time. Everywhere in France.

France also has a very large, public, and irate Neo-Nazi movement that is nationally organized and an actual political force in their government.

And those guys all have 'local militias', except that in France, they all dress like Nazi brownshirts and carry clubs, not guns.

They use those clubs (and knives) at will freely while patrolling around through neighborhoods, always looking for a fight. These uniformed gangs are just as quick to stick anyone who disagrees with them as any Muslim, and that includes cops, onlookers, kids and old ladies. They also hate Jews as much as Muslims. They don't want to kill as much as oppress and terrify those who don't agree with them. They could get guns, but they prefer to stomp their opposition several times rather than killing only one or two. Why kill one guy when you can terrify a dozen? And come back again and again? Killing only works once and the dead are soon forgotten.
That's the way terror works… it's the repetition that counts.

if you want a closer look at what is really going on in France, here's a link:
https://farrightontherise.wordpress....-nazis-le-pen/

One of the reasons why the killings at Charlie Hebdo make the French so angry was because the magazine went after the French far right as much as the Muslims, and went after the Catholic church (all all religion) just as much as either. Charlie Hebdo also went after French Presidents and establishment politicians, and leaders of other nations, just as much as all the above. The magazine was equally offensive to them all, often far past the point any American satire magazine would go.

We all take our right to free speech so granted that we have created a greater tolerance for other's speech than the French have. Charlie Hebdo took satire to such extremes that even we would be shocked and/or disgusted with some of the stuff they printed, but that's how the French are.

That's why, in part, they went through 3 revolutions and only one was enough for us.

You can watch the videos of people without guns, they just get shot without a fighting chance.
