I don't know why they didn't show up. What I do know is that if they did, the cons would have a hissy fit claiming Obama cares more about terrorism overseas than in the U.S., why isn't he doing more in this country, why is he supporting some weak pathetic French government, etc. etc. etc. So predictable that I almost wish it would've happened to see it play out on here.
Doesn't really matter. Sites outside of the US took notice that the US had no presence there.
Left that wide open to much speculation.
"" The U.S. attorney general, in Paris for a terrorism summit with French President Francois Hollande, did not join world leaders such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minister David Cameron, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for the march and rally that drew a million people days after 12 were shot at satirical paper Charlie Hebdo. Others such as Obama and Vice President Biden were also not in attendance. ""
WHo really cares. Not a holder fan, but whats the point of showing up at this rally other than a photo OP. I'd rather them put resources towards stopping the terrorist instead. They can keep the party
Would have thought the US Ambassador to France would have been there and would be sufficient to represent the US. If need be higher, then Sec of State.
Presidents and Vice Presidents are reserved for summits and state funerals.
So I have no problem with AG Holder, VP Biden, or Pres Obama not being there and would be happy with the lower level officials.
But if there was no one there from the US, then I would hope it was by design
