Maybe if you aren't paying taxes you stay home on election day?
Maybe only those who pay for government should have a say in how government operates.
Illegals have been thought to have voted...of course

Don't you love the Constitution?

I thought rights-- like the right to vote-- were endowed by God?

You right wingers are really confusing. You can't even keep your Moderator cut: language internally consistent. I'd love for you to justify this and not be hypocritical towards other arguments the right wing makes about "rights" and the "Constitution"....

...........does the constitution mean nothing to you?

24th Amendment:
Quote:
The right of citizens of the United States to vote in any primary or other election for President or Vice President, for electors for President or Vice President, or for Senator or Representative in Congress, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state by reason of failure to pay any poll tax or other tax.

Yes because voting has nothing to do with how much
you earn per year.

There was a picture going around a while back: People who work for a living, People who vote for a living.

The point was that people on welfare will (I assume) always vote for whoever is pro-welfare (or says that during their campaign), guaranteeing them continued income without having to go to work.

When Meg Whitman was running for governor in California one of her campaign promises was to slim down welfare and get people back to work. I'm sure she thought that was a good thing, but I remember hearing that for the first time and cringing, thinking she lost the "welfare vote"--which is a huge portion of the California voting population.

Sure, people on welfare should be able to vote. They should also be looking for a job, but we can't have everything.

The vast majority on welfare do not in fact vote.

In fact those with a income less then 15K? They have the lowest voter participant rate.

I'd rather change the tax to a national sales tax and abolish income tax. Can you let them vote, then?

This will become an issue if/when those people who vote based on who gives them free stuff become the majority.
