I hope they didn't squander the money.

5 Years After Haiti's Earthquake, Where Did The $13.5 Billion Go? : Goats and Soda : NPR

The catastrophe also unleashed an unprecedented flood of humanitarian aid — $13.5 billion in donations and pledges, about three-quarters from donor nations and a quarter from private charity.

But today Haiti is a long, long way from realizing the bullish goal of "building back better."

It went directly in to the pocket of some faux-general or dictator wearing mirrored sunglasses to pay for guns to repress the population and the rest went to their wives for shopping in Europe.

They use a better grade of cardboard?

A better question might be:
How come the Dominican Republic is better, on almost every measurable scale?

Haiti is further proof that just throwing money at a problem doesn't make it go way.

Maybe the people of Haiti should read ''The Three Pigs?

This was questioned in the press and some articles were written.
Those charity groups held on to the money. They said giving it to them all at once wasn't a good idea.
They were going to wait until Haiti had recovered.

I was like WTH..isn't that the very reason we gave to these charities...for the recovery ?

After that article I swore off all charities. No more checks because my money is sitting in some charity's account being wheeled and sealed on Wall Street to make them money.

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.

Haitians are being victimized by the takeover artists.

U.N. immune from accountability for cholera in Haiti, says U.S. court - Humanosphere

It’s been five years since Haiti’s earthquake. And the ‘redevelopment’ hasn’t been about helping Haitians.

It's such a tragic waste. And the people of Haiti suffer for it. Disgusting and sad.

Haiti's earthquake generated a $9bn response
We found that about 94% of humanitarian funding went to donors' own civilian and military entities, UN agencies, international NGOs and private contractors. In addition, 36% of recovery grants went to international NGOs and private contractors. Yet this is where the trail goes cold – you can look at procurement databases to track primary contract recipients, but it is almost impossible to track the money further to identify the final recipients and the outcomes of projects.
