As long as you have some tie-in with the Czar and his oligarchy you won't miss any meals.

Now, for the 70 year old lady on a pension....she's screwed.

On it's own Czar not a problem. Russians don't bother about Czar if he the tough guy. Russians lose their temper and be nervous when Czar is weak. In my opinion Czar can do more than "president" for 4 years of elected term.

It's a problem when your pensioners are starving because their monthly stipend buys one loaf of bread.

I'm a little saddened that a Russian does not remember from history how bad things can get when you get a "strong leader" that is also a crappy decision maker.....whom you cannot remove.

Got any relatives on fixed pensions? Got a spare room they can live in?

Dang, you must be really young and idealistic.

Oh well, enjoy the suffering.

Shame too, Russia was just getting it's life expectancy numbers back to respectable levels.

All things considered, maybe getting rid of Nicholas II wasn't such a great idea.

#popcorn, ready.
Wait a minute, is this the same Russia and Putin that conservatives were fearing as a military power and praising Putin as a strong leader who was embarrassing President Obama, and about to reconstitute the former USSR?

There were some like me who said at the time that Russia is a very very poor nation, dependent upon Europe for its entire economy, and their invasion of Crimea was going to hugely backfire on Putin and Russia.

Then there's conservstives who were both praising the might of Putin, repeating Putin propaganda about how fearsome and strong he was(Sarah Palin actually saying Putin is one who wrestles bears while President Onama wears mom jeans), while bed wetting themselves that Russia was going to run through nations and blah, blah, blah.

Just go read what conservatives were saying that Putin was going to do, to see how out of touch with reality conservatives have become. It's embarrassing or should be how wrong conservatives were in their Putin and Russia predictions.

Once again conservatives are proven 100% wrong by reality. They get nothing right. conservatives just move on to the next thing they'll get completely wrong.

Will not be some "suffering" at all. And loss of any "respectable level" don't scare my people. Especially now, when the thing is America and EC shakes down on Russia - this is a question of national honor and we don't care about some luxury stuff. Sanctions just more unite us against USA.

Our new "Russian" poster seems to be using Google to translate. I suspect this one is trolling.
