I think though there may be blips along the way for the most part we still believe in the Constitution.
While we may do a lot of complaining on places like this about how some things here just don't seem right, we have some damn good systems in place to prevent tyrants from coming into power.
We do? Bush isn't a tyrant......he stole the vote in the first election.
I think that folks don't get upset as you may like because the process allowed for a reversal. Palm Beach County was controlled by the Democrats who were in charge of managment of the recount (the hanging chads discussions). They didn't sufficiently staff the recount process, not going 24/7, and eventually time ran out.
I think folks who thought the recount was truncated would agree that a lack of diligence was certainly a significant contributing factor, and not Bush's fault. This is a significant reason as to why we don't revolt. The process dragged on long enough.
extreme poverty
there isnt a plasma or lcd tv in every house
people dont have new fancy cars or access to get new ones.
They don't get paid as much as we do
USA:
LCD tvs
PS3 or XBOX 360 in every house
We believe we can make it big if we just "pull ourselves up by the boot straps"
Totally agree. I think in the "other countries" you mean, life is more on the edge. Whatever happens in our political world, we are far away from it affecting our daily survival. (though I don't know if that is specifically the point Wild was getting at)

It's not what I would like or not like. And you apparently feed into what is told you.
I doubt if we would be in Iraq if Bush was not a tyrant, that we would be in better shape with other countries if Bush was not a tyrant i.e. he listens to no one, even Colin Powell who tried to tell him why we should not be in Iraq. He was proven right.
[b][i]Yes, our country does not wait things out (does not perservere) as they do in other countries, such as France with their strikes, etc. We just can't be bothered. Just complain a lot.
As others have said- because we have more to lose.
It wasn't always this way- there was a time when Americans were passionate and willing to take actions with harsh consequences based on their beliefs, but that's pretty much gone.
The disparity between house, stocked fridge, cable television and prison cel is just too great.
In some countries, the spread between daily life and prison isn't far enough to warrant their caution, so they're willing to take larger risks, up to and including death... that, plus, some cultures don't place much emphasis on a fixed concept of 'adult maturity' so you wind up with an entire population of grown ups- possessing the intellect and life experience of an adult- but exhibiting the behavioral restraint of children.
Whenever I see streets full of Arabs burning effigies, shooting guns in the air and wailing in the middle of a crowded street, I'm reminded of this.
Most Americans don't think they can make a change in a corrupted system. They're too busy with just trying to work for a living to get involved in protests.
You are exactly right about that. Remember in the 60s if we the people did not like something then we would march and rant and holler and raise signs saying hooray for our side?
Back then the Government was afraid of we the people. They listened to us to some degree. Look at the numbers of Vietnam protesters back then as opposed to the few protesters protesting this fake illegal undeclared war today. Today we are all too busy working 2 jobs just to stay afloat. We have no time to take buses and fly away to the Big White House to march, Most of us get a couple free down time hours a day so we come on forums like this to protest, knowing damn well it goes no where.
Today we the people are afraid of the big bad Government. What happens to your heart rate when big bad Uncle Sam sends you a letter? What about the IRS? What about a cop pulling you over? Can we say it is now a totalitarian state? A police state? They have their foot on our necks and we cant get up.
And again you are right. This is a corrupted system.

In the US, we have Borders. You can always go to Borders and get books about the next election, and meet fellow aging hippie basket weavers (every Tuesday, 6 PM .. or maybe it's Wednesday. Check the "community bulletin board" next to the always-dirty bathrooms).
In foreign countries, you usually can't find a Borders (although they are expanding internationally). For example, in Canada, they have 'Chapters.' You can only get crappy Canadian magazines and books written in incomprehensible British English that assume you live using the metric system. If you subscribe to US magazines, you have to pay extra postage costs, regardless of whether or not your anti-American mail carrier 'loses' your US periodicals or not.
The only reason why Canadians do not riot, compared to others in Africa, Asia, and Europe, is that Canadian magazines and bookstores are so boring, people fall asleep. Watch South Park, you'll see. "You'll see."

I do a little critical thinking, and just don't have the same point of view. Bush barely won the election, but governs as though he had a mandate. Some may view this as tyrannical while others may see it as independent leadership.
