Apparently it is, seeing as there seems to be a whole lot of confusion about what 27 simple English words actually say and what they mean. Lot of people on here have a very difficult time understanding very simple words like "Right" and "of the people" and "shall NOT be infringed"..... They don't get why comma placement is important, and they don't understand how prefatory and operative clauses differ from each other.

not the other amendments just the second
Oh no, the other amendments need a good lesson dedicated to them as well, it's just that the second amendment is the one that's most under attack, and so it's important to bring our next generation of leaders up with a proper understanding of the amendment, what it protects, and the history behind it.

Some folks are so anti gun, they can find a way to challenge the most succinct amendment of all.
The constitution is the best thing that has ever happened to our free society. It should all be taught so students understand what is important to remain a free society.

There is no confusion with the words stated in the 2nd amendment, I will leave the interpretation up to the supreme court not the NRA.

Free speech, right to privacy, right to trial are under attack more than ever before not the 2nd amendment. Tapping your phone conversations I would say is head and shoulders above but yet the 2nd amendment is under attack?

The next generation needs to focus on education and South Carolina is sorely lacking in that area, they need to get their priorities in order and gun education ranks around 100 in the public school system.

The South Carolina school system has limited financial resources, hence their rank among other school systems. The firearm safety education program would be largely, if not completely, subsidized by the NRA.

Well, the Supreme Court DID interpret it, and agreed with the big evil NRA's interpretation btw, and yet we're still having the same discussions now that we were six years ago because some people can't accept the courts ruling. We still have people telling us that only the "militia" have a Right to bear arms, or that the founders wanted our 2A Right to be "well-regulated" right out of existence.... It's asinine. Hopefully if this bill passes, the students will be taught the true history about the 2A and what it does, and not some revisionist, wishful thinking crap.

I agree with you. It seems on those matters of infringement though, the citizenry is content to turn a blind eye, and begrudgingly go along with those intrusions on their freedom. I guess the perception of safety is more important to a lot of people than their rights.
