I think this is banning asset seizure based on possible FEDERAL violations. Bet they can still do it based on state, county or city laws.

Still, this is a good thing IMHO.

Someone show me where I'm wrong...it doesn't sound to me like this makes much if any difference:

http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2015...gram.html?_r=0
Quote:
The program was developed at a time when most states didn't have their own asset forfeiture laws and did not have legal authority to forfeit seized items, raising concerns that seized property might ultimately return to the hands of criminals. But Holder said all states now have civil or criminal asset forfeiture law, so it's no longer as necessary for local law enforcement to turn over seized property to federal agencies.
also
Quote:
The new policy does not affect asset seizures made under joint state and federal operations,
Just from reading news stories, joint state/local & federal police operations are ubiquitous now. We've had strip club raids and hooker busts here where feds were involved. There are over 100,000 federal sworn officers now.

Applies as federal law only... and repealable with new blood... takes a contempt laden attorney to support crooks
We still have California law to fall back on... difference being is money will go in general demokrautfund instead of directly shared with Leo
