Israel is the only country at the United Nations, which is debated by the Human Rights Council at every session.
Personally, I don't think it is fair. I think Israel has right to defend herself, they refuse to be pushed in the portable gas chambers again. So I say good for them to defend themselves.
Whatever benefit we get from Israel, they get a millionfold in return. They don't provide any value to this country that we can't get elsewhere or come up with ourselves. Nothing. Nada. Zero. Zilch. Donut. Niente. Nolo.
I realize that we have a decent relationship with them and i see no reason why that should end or be interrupted. I'm fine with it. But let's call it what it is....a relationship of convenience FOR THEM. We could do without it and it would make zero difference in the lives of the American people.

This I agree with. Back in the days of Soviet Russia, Israel had value as many Arab states were supported by the USSR. Today, not so much. It's a relic from the cold war.

Your analysis is unduly charitable to Israel. Many Arab states supported, and were supported by, the USSR because the USSR was seen as opposing colonialism, and Israel was a blatant and ugly example of colonialism.
Even back then, the relationship was much more trouble than it was worth.
I think our support for Israel, their intrusion on Arab land, and the ridiculous amount of money we give them, is absolutely appalling. They need to stand on their own, as a sovereign nation, and they must respect and support Palestine, as an equal and sovereign entity. Their continued intrusion and killing of Arabs, and our ridiculous support for such, is the primary reason for terrorism, as former President James Earl Carter correctly stated.
I don't believe in a "technology value to the USA", as a basis for blindly supporting them financially. Palestine has an equal right to exist. How absurd to think otherwise.
Israel has no right to exist. The idea that a State has rights is ludicrous in itself, but in the words of UN General Assembly Resolution 3379: Zionism is racism.
A Zionist state has no right to exist anymore than an apartheid South Africa. Israel, where Palestinians are denied access to Jewish-only buses, schools, restaurants, and houses, is nothing to be proud of.
Also protected by the UN: the Palestinian right of return. The millions of Palestinian refugees who were either kicked out of Palestine in 1948 or descend from those who were kicked out have the right to go back home no matter what Israel says.
In ten years, there'll be a one state solution, where Jews remain in the territory, Palestinians can return, and we'll look back at the conflict the same way we look back at South Africa. The question is when will the US back away from Israel (being the only country to strike down resolutions that condemn Israel's murder and expulsion of innocent Arabs every year) the way it backed away from South Africa? For the sake of American morality, I hope it's sooner than later.
