It'll get them to realize there's no free ride, even though up to this point, they've willfully let others bear their burden while having no responsibility or accountability themselves. What they get for free costsothers the fruits of their labor. It's way past time to have it cost them, as well.
I'll spell it out to you very simply: If you think that making someone who is getting paid minimum wage pay more in taxes when they are already struggling to survive will give them "dignity", you are either a very snide and nasty person, or hopelessly naïve.

No, I do not mind.
I have always thought if the parent who takes off, or is not present, is REALLY held responsible to financially support their child or children, than that would take some burden off the tax payers, and hopefully make people think twice before going out willy nilly having sex.
I know that no one can force someone to work, but there has got to be some way to make those responsible ina different manor.
