having the MLK holiday caused the loss of another holiday....used to be you celebrated Lincoln(12) and Washington(22) in feb....because of MLK its not combined into presidents day
MLK was a great man.... but why NEED a holiday for him....there have been hundreds of great men and women since the birth of our country
apparently black history month isnt enough for you?
I would be happy if our textbooks were completely revamped so we could showcase the accomplishments of blacks, women, latinos, etc all year around.
Take the American Revolution for instance. I had NO clue what a large role women and blacks played in
the war, as well as before and after, until I was an adult.
The amount of misinformation in our textbooks is disgusting.

I suspect that says more about the people you hang around with then it does where you live.
Still can't get anyone to answer why it would be "disgusting" to vote against creating a holiday?
It was actually something unheard of to have a Federal holiday for a private citizen. Never happened before or after. I think it was done just for racial reasons and they choose the date to fall when many states already had a holiday for Robert E. Lee. It was designed as a slap in the face to southerners and was a racist act.
The entire thread simply serves as proof that the Politically Correct are behaving more and more like Nazis with every passing day.
