Pope Francis has said that good Catholics do not have to breed "like rabbits", defending the Church's stance on artificial contraception and appealing to the world's 1.2 billion Roman Catholics to practice responsible parenting.
In 2013, six months after becoming pope, Francis urged the Church to drop its "obsession" with contraception, divorce, gays and abortion, in an interview signalling a dramatic shift in the Vatican's tone.

The Catholic Church does not take what is called the quiverfull position, and with the exceptions of artificial contraception and abortion has long sanctioned methods of family planning for the same reasons as anyone else. Celibacy, perhaps the oldest and certainly the most effective way to avoid breeding like a rabbit, has been viewed positively by the Church for over a thousand years. The implication that artificial contraception and abortions are the only methods of family planning is false; not that I personally have any objection to either, but the fact is other ways do exist.
Rather a tacky way to put it but the reality is unless you have money or are an extremely resourceful provider for your family, a large number of children is hard to support in this day and age.

I'd be surprised he said this too after saying Mass for 6 million people in Manila The Phillipines! It should be noted the most Catholic of nations that the Phillipines Government estimated that the population of this island nation exceeded 100, 000,000.

I think this had more to do with the Churches poverty programs and the fact that Catholics average and 4.2 kids where as the national average in the US is 2.5
Given the explosive breeding rate of Muslims, my advice to Christians is to most certainly start breeding like rabbits if they don't want to be beheaded instead of retired in the future.
