God only knows. Its long since I tried understanding their rationale.
At the end of the day, I think that Hollywood does what they think brings money in. Nothing deeper than that.
How many WM/ BW sex scenes have you seen?
Also, why does every movie, be it historical, or war movie needs sex scenes of any kind?
Plenty...But that doesn't mean that people like them.
As to volume..why not? I'm not a prude so it's no big deal to me.

Neither am I, but if I want to watch sex, there are plenty of opportunities.
My stand is not moral, but artistic. Sometimes sex scenes just don't belong to the story or to the screenplay. Forcing them in doesn't do good to the movie as much as anything forced.
Grey's Anatomy--you get both interracial and gay sex with the resident lesbian physician couple.
Not crazy about it, but at least it's not overdone (so far).
Scandal and Revenge had both interracial and gay sex. That wasn't what lost me--I'm not too keen on torture with a drill bit, blood flying and the victim screaming his/her head off (Scandal).
The violence and cruelty bother me far more than the gay sex does.

That actor (forgot his name) played Zack Morris in Saved by the bell is white and Asian mixed I believe
He looks a bit like my nephew. My nephew is only four years old, but he can pass for Hitler's youth. He has blond hair and piercing blue eyes. He's also 25% Japanese.
At 4 I hope you didn't tell him that. My nephew has a similar look, Anglo/Thai/Mex mix but he's 19 and he's the one that jokes about it.
I'm a totally sex positive person and fine with seeing Hetero sex scenes: Variation is a good thing and theres attractive people in all races and mixes. On the other side, even though I'm fine with Gay people getting together and doing their thing, I don't care to watch it. I'm not talking about kissing either, which doesn't phase me. I'm sure many Gay people don't care to watch Heteros having sex either.
I have no desire to watch a gay sex scene. I guess in Brokeback, unlike many other Hollywood films, showing the act was kinda integral to the story... but it's pretty hard to relate if you're not gay. Nice cinematography though!
OTOH, gays have had to watch heteros have sex on screen for years. I imagine they probably weren't into it as much as me :-)

Good point. They had to watch us Heteros for years, watching Broke back or the equivalent is the most we can do after them enduring a 100 years with 99.9 percent Hetero movies

We just watched Gone Girl. Great story and performance, but I feel we got smacked with the raunchy sex scenes. We covered our eyes and muted it. It just wasn't needed and brought the intrigue of the story line unfolding to a halt.
They should offer PG versions of some of these movies. It would be easy to cut out the sex scenes, we're all adults and know what happens anyway.
