Porn is "freedom of speech". Prostitution isn't.

Hooking should be legal, let women (and men) determine what should be done with their own body.

That's great, in theory. As long as organized crime didn't get involved, and trafficking didn't exist.

You know, in that proverbial ideal world...

Organized crime is more involved when it is illegal than it would be if it was legal.

Trafficking is horrible, and the point above applies as well.

Why is this even a subject, who cares people are going to do anything to get their drug fix.. most porn stars and hookers are addicted to drugs... they will still use regardless if something is illegal

One country in Europe that had been a mecca for prostitution has nearly eliminated it from their nation. They got rid of jail time for the prostitutes and started offering them help, counseling, or what ever they needed to get them off the street.

They increased fines and jail time for the Johns and those involved with pimping or trafficking. Those are the real criminals here, not these women. These women are victims.

As far as getting rid of both the only way to do that is teach people how damaging it is to the women involved in the business. I am all for freedom of speach but this kind of speach has no redeaming value.

Sweden's war on prostitution had the effect of drastically reducing prostitution by Swedish citizens.

However, the Swedish girls got replaced by illegal aliens. Human trafficking and illegal immigration rose to unprecedented levels. Prostitution continues, but the problems associated with it are much more severe.

If you want to reduce the problems associated with prostitution, the best thing to do is legalize it - as New Zealand learned. Sadly California is hooked on punitive remedies
