LMFAO, a reformer? Wasn't this the same guy who had two of his daughters locked away because they spoke out in favor of women's rights? I wonder what that lady who was beheaded in the street in front of a dozen policemen would have to say about his reforms.

The major "reformers" today are King Abdullah of Jordan and President el-Sissi of Egypt .... but their idea of "reform" and our idea of how they should run their countries are still miles apart.

They do have to consider a lot of issues and deal with the multitude of Tribes and Religion - add to that the Centuries Old Sunni/Shia religious Wars and it's all blowing up everywhere.
Good post. It will be interesting times to see what happens next. And how they play the game with ISIS and Al-Nursa.

RIP to King Abdullah and many hopes that Saudi Arabia remains stable and can find their way to some reform.

I know that few people actually pay much attention to World Affairs and Foreign Policy - but this is a big deal. He was known as a reformer. There is always a little unsuitability after a Mid-East ruler either Dies or leaves office.

Yemen is next door and fell to a Shiite Rebel group today - the President, Prime Minister & Cabinet of Ministers were forced to 'resign' (or be shot).

Bad day in the neighborhood.
His Govt publicly beheaded like 60 people in 2014, plus stoned women to death for both driving a car and getting caught reading. Hate to imagine what the old, more traditional program must have been like.

Aren't the Shia our allies now against ISIS (Sunni)? Iran (Shia) is the only Arab country in fact to send forces or offer to send forces (as well as many supplies) to help the people in Iraq (Majority Shia)? For those of you who want to take out ISIS (Sunni), remember Iran (Shia) and their proxy army the Al Sadr Militia (Shia) are waiting to take their place. If only someone could have envisioned this quagmire, we could have avoided all of this.

Unfortunate.

It is the intention of ISIS to take over Saudi Arabia and I hope this does not embolden them.

He has also been Minister of Defence since 2011, and he was Governor of Riyadh Province from 1963 to 2011. King Salman ascended the throne on 23 January 2015 on the death of King Abdullah, his half-brother.

We are the Big Satan -- NO, the Shia and Iran are never going to be our "allies".

A lot of people and experts predicted the "quagmire" of any type of 'alliance' with those that call for "Death to America" every Friday ...... Every single Friday, they call for our death.

And this is the Country that we are now crawling in bed with. God save us.

King Salman is 79, believed to be suffering from Alzheimers and, allegedly, cannot remember his own name half the time.

Interesting times
