That's sort of like saying "they can't predict a single coin flip but they expect us to believe they know what the average of 10,000 flips will be".

Oh come on now, you're showing the errors of the priests and their great computers in the hallowed halls. Expect retribution...much like the inquisition. Conform or die. Heretic.

and that is exactly the point

meteorologists (scientists) cant even get their ''expectations''' correct

the computer models cant get a forecast for the next few days correct

NYC was predicted to get 1-3 feet of snow.....they got less than 8 inches

What I find truly intriguing about the whole thing is that when one of these weather events occurs back East, there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth about the horrible weather, and how bad the roads are, etc. etc.
But when one of these storms hits the Mountain West, it is pretty much business as usual, the stores stay open, the schools stay open (some bus routes may be affected), everybody is expected to go to work, etc.
It just isn't one world! Shucks, it isn't even one COUNTRY!

Guess what... a massive storm did happen and is still happening. The models picked up on this storm last week out of nowhere, so they technically DID get it right. It ended up shifting further east and it sparred many that would have and could have potentially received the feet of snow that was forecasted. Just ask the many people in New England who are currently getting hit by it.

I'll tell you what... I'd rather know that a potential storm like this is out there days in advance with the technology we have now rather then back in the day when there was little to no technology and all of a sudden you're blindsided by such a storm and it becomes a life threatening situation because you weren't aware, and unprepared.

The worst part about this whole thing is... the next time a scenario like this happens, many ignorant people out there are going to ignore the warnings because "they got it wrong last time"... good luck with that I suppose.

NYC got less than predicted but from LI up through New England they were very accurate with close to 2 feet of snow, just because some small areas didn't get what is predicted does not mean they were inaccurate. Many variables that tend to impact predictions, never perfect but based on the best available information at the time.

They did indeed act like one this weekend with their predictions of doom and gloom and warnings of dire circumstances if you didn't listen to them and be prepared as the weather gods were going to extract their wrath.

The predictions were for one of the top 5 worse snow storms ever. It wasn't anywhere close to that anywhere.

Potential "Top 5" New England Snowstorm | NECN

No, they were not "very accurate". Very accurate would have been, It's winter in the north east and we are going to get snow this weekend.

I am sure the New England region appreciates the warning for the snowstorm that hit them.

Weather events are not the same as climate trends.

There's also a lot more than 2-4 inches in southern Maine right now..
