I see one aspect of how women see the "metro" male has a lot to do with their age group and likely their upbringing.
I would be curious as to see the demographics on how women today view the feminist and or equal rights movement as it is certainly related to how men are viewed or portrayed by women.
I think that men who look and behave like men are the hottest. Mr. McGregor included. I got myself a Texas Marine 16 years ago and he just keeps getting better & better. And let me tell you, when those boys are dirty & grubby they are HOT and when they are all spit & polish in their dress uniforms, they are still HOT. They are NEVER mistaken for "metrosexuals".
There is a very interesting concept I read about several years ago (now can't find the link!) about gay-like men, not gay, they prefer women and marry etc., but just very feminine. The few men I know well who have these "traits" did have domineering women in their lives (ie mothers), and passive men role models (ie fathers). Not sure if there were actual studies to show this, but just from personal experience knowing several of these types of guys. (Will try to find the article on this.)

Not to be pejorative, but they used to call them, "Mama's Boys". Dad either distant, away working, non involved or possibly passive; mother seen as domineering controlling.

I've been a single mom for 13 years and have never dated a civilian for that very reason!
You do know that the well off men dressed MUCH more like this in the 1300s-1800. Men had earrings throughout much of western civilization, and I could care less about what gay acceptance has to do with it or not.
Ummm ... yeah. 18th Century Male Fashions - the type of clothes worn by The Founding Fathers. They could certainly pull off lace and wigs with great aplomb
From the site that describes this type of dress: "A man of high stature and considerable resources could command the embroidered flourish of this dress suit."

This is my brother-in-law, in a nutshell. And his father before him. They both ended up getting married to very demanding women who totally run the show.
My nephew is well on his way (middle child & only boy). Surrounded by these 2 women and having such a docile male role model.
Has anyone read the book, Wild at Heart? It is about the demasculination of American men. It is very good. It has helped me let my boy be a boy.

It did make Prince millions but I doubt Cheney could pull it off.
Ugh, that would be difficult for me to find "exciting". Glad many of them threw off those wigs and donned buckskins and coonskin caps with rifle in hand to explore and take on the Wild West!!
