Maybe everyone should just accept each other the way thetvaare. All people have different mixtures and types of masculine and feminine traits. In the past a certain subset of dousch male dominated. The culture and made everybody miserable but them including women and gays and other males. Everybody obeyed out of fear. Now they lost that control and because of a little backlash that type of male is not looked upon favorably. But all people are unique and should be treated with respect and dignity
I disagree. No type of straight white man is looked upon favorably. The only ones who are, are the ones who participate in their own demonization.
The Feminization of American Males
Perhaps one should note that the old, aggressive, ready-to-fight behavior was prized because in those bad old days, one’s property rights were dependent upon one’s willingness to fight in their defense. Even the pre-socialist movies echoed the sentiment. Henry Fonda played a non-aggressive man in “The Farmer Takes a Wife” (1935). His lack of testosterone was definitely denigrated by all including his beau, Janet Gaynor. She wants Fonda to show he can be strong 'n' rough. It’s not till the end that timid Fonda, goes all masculine and thrashes the bully and gains the respect of all.
Of course, with today’s New Socialist Man, there are no property rights to defend. The Collective State insures that. And since women don’t NEED a fightin’ man, might as well disarm him, too.
Since the equal rights movement and the current trend towards a more emotionally in tuned society, are American men becoming feminized?
When one looks around and the growing acceptance of homosexuality, the swapping of gender roles in heterosexual relationships, and this near obsession with personal vanity that many men seem to focus on today and a general tendency towards egalitarianism.
This piece I ran across brings up some very interesting trends and points out various aspects of what appears to be the feminization of American men.
As the influence of the new psychology permeates our culture, women have understandably begun to wonder whether men are really, well, human. "What if these women are right?" wonders one writer in an article for Marie Claire, a national woman's magazine. "What if it's true that some men don't possess, or at least can't express, nuanced emotions?"8 More than a few contemporary psychologists have come to regard the male of our species as a coarsened, more violent edition of the normal, female, human. Not surprisingly, they have begun to question whether having a man in the house is desirable or even safe.
I just thought about the following song (the song is kinda about this subject.)
With all of these men lining up to get neutered
It's hip now to be feminized
I don't highlight my hair
I've still got a pair
Yeah honey, I'm still a guy
Oh my eyebrows ain't plucked
There's a gun in my truck
Oh thank God, I'm still a guy

I look upon many straight white males favorably including my brother my dad and straight and best friend and co workers.I think im looked upon much worse being gay since legally I have less rights in my state thnx them not to mention. All the threads about gays here on city data
Not supporting the Violence Against Women Act means you don't care about women. Even though the primary aggressor laws and restraining order rules it promotes are proven to negatively impact innocent men.
You're supposed to man up and be responsible if a woman you had sex with gets pregnant with an unwanted child. At the same time you're supposed to support her right to choose.
We support advocacy programs and outreach programs to get women involved in the STEM fields. Meanwhile men are heavily underrepresented in the liberal arts and nothing is done about it.
It is discrimination to charge women higher rates for health insurance, but men are charged higher rates for life and car insurance.
We are supposed to be concerned about the glass ceiling where women are underrepresented in top corporate positions. The glass floor where men are doing virtually of society's dirtiest and most dangerous jobs, suffering 90% of workplace fatalities, isn't mentioned.
We're concerned about racial differences in blacks getting greater criminal sentences for the same crimes as whites. Nothing is done about men getting greater criminal sentences for the same crimes as women.
We are concerned about violence against women in society. But men are the victims of violent crime at triple the rates of women.
We have rape shield laws so that women don't suffer social condemnation when making a rape accusation. The accused man's name and photo can be on TV and in the newspapers before he's been convicted.
Women get custody in 90% of custody battles. It strains credibility to believe that 9 times out of 10 the woman is the better parent.
Women's specific health issues, such as breast cancer, receive triple the funding that men's health issues do despite men having a lower life span.
The violence against women act covers male victims of violence as well. Women have the right to choose because the baby is in their body. I do agree with you on the custody issue and a couple other things. But you DO N OT have it worse than gay males. My dad brother and friend have more legal rights in my state than I do. I am not protected from from a housing equality or employment discrimination and they are. I can t marry in accordance. With my orientation and they can. They agree with me that I have it worse how many threads and are there about if straight guys should be allowed to do things?

I didn't say straight men have it worse than gay men. That would just be insane to say that. But you asked for examples of how I figure straight men aren't looked on favorably, so I presented some. Gay men suffer virtually everything straight men do, plus more.

I agree with a lot of what you said. Everyone should be treated equally under the law. In some situations men and women and are not. But also gays and minorities aren't as well to an even worse extent. I don't know why its so hard for us to do this as a country.
Your right, most families really could give a rats ass on whos more fem or masc. We work together and do what needs to be done and have changed roles on a couple occassions in over 20 years of marriage. I dont mind cooking because I like to and am actually really good at it. It is what it is.
Such language, you should be ashamed, but thanks for
