Therefore they are NOT in fact married. Thailand doesn't recognize same-sex marriage let alone same-sex polyamorous marriages. So don't even try to use this as a slippery-slope argument for why marriage equality in the United States should not be allowed.
The threesome did not undergo a state ceremony, since Thai law does not recognize same-sex marriages or polygamy, but the trio claims that their union is sanctioned by Buddhist law.
So not a legal civil marriage, but a religious marriage.
