News broke yesterday that a Japanese hostage had been beheaded by ISIS or some similar group. I also read that the two guys were a bit mentally unstable. They had no obvious business there, but went anyway, and got beheaded. Years ago, Nick Berg and Paul Johnson were beheaded while working in Muslim countries. Why do these people go to Muslim countries and expose themselves to this kind of violence? Even if the money is better, wouldn't you rather work in a country not known for beheading people? I'm getting a little tired of caring about people who go over there voluntarily and end up dead.

So it's the victims' fault. Got it.

They didn't intend to be beheaded, but put themselves into a situation where it is possible to occur. I'm sure drunk drivers don't intend to get arrested or kill someone, but they put themselves into situations where it's more likely to happen. Same principle here.

That is generally the argument. "Don't want a cop to jump you and pummel the living crap out of you? Do as you are instructed".

These people do not want us in their country. Why isn't it, "do as you are instructed" as valid then?

I also think it's funny that the Japanese hostages were supposedly "a bit mentally unstable" but the guys cutting the heads off of innocent victims for their imaginary man in the sky are apparently free of blame. Perhaps Yukawa was a bit eccentric, but Goto is a journalist and was simply trying to use his experience and knowledge of the area to try to save a friend. In my book, he's a hero.

I wonder how veterans of WW2 battles in the Pacific against the Japanese troops feel about Japan's reaction to ONE of their people being beheaded considering the huge number of POWs and civilians beheaded by Imperial Japan troops & sailors.

As for the topic, the point made is individuals who, for no just cause, travel to places in the middle of heavy conflict put their lives in danger and we're suppose to feel sorry for them? When will people get it through their thick skulls that Islamic terrorist will not hesitate to kill infidels.

Civilized people need to stop dealing with Arabian Islam. We need to remove all of our military. We need to let this culture destroy itself. If it fails to do so then we need to do it.

I would concur if they ISIS didnt want a GLOBAL caliphate. They want to spread their views by sword all around the world. If it was some regional conflict between factions, sure, let them scrap.

Many of those countries are not primarily Muslim.
