I didn't watch the interview, but I do see him as a trailblazer, given that he was originally this wholesome athletic male Olympian...and now he has publicly revealed that he's transgender, and is courageously transitioning to a woman. It's trailblazing because this is the most high-profile transgender case ever. The Kartrashians are perhaps THE biggest stars in the world right now. That said, I do feel it was irresponsible of him to father children, knowing all along that he was transgender. But whatever, it's done.

I think this case will definitely make a difference in the way that some people see transgender folk. Transgender people are often misunderstood and there are a lot of trashy/vulgar examples of transgenders out there (escorts, prostitutes, on the street, etc.).

I have a feeling he'd probably rather the opportunity to deal with all of this in private, but just the fact of who he is and who he's associated with makes that impossible. So he has chosen to do what he can to control the story. There's still going to be a media feeding frenzy, but he's able to tell his story on his terms, rather than leave everything up to speculation.

He's not the first athlete... he's not a trailblazer.

But therein lies the difference. Who was Renee Richards compared to Bruce Jenner? I was alive in the 80s and I remember the tv movie about Renee's transition, but most people likely have never heard of that person. On the other hand, the Kartrashian family is everywhere. This is the most high-profile TG case ever, especially in today's society with the controversy over allowing TG people in locker rooms and having separate TG bathrooms.

Trans people need an icon. But Bruce Jenner is the worst possible choice. - The Washington Post

I have never seen even 2 seconds of the K-reality show. So this is the first I've seen of Bruce's personality.

I thought he came off as very honest and thoughtful in his answers. I was glad he said he's not a spokesperson for transgender, but he repeated several times that you can't change it. I think the fact that he's struggled against it for so long may help many transgender kids' parents understand and accept that this is just how their child was born, and how they're gonna be the rest of their life.

The fact that his first 2 ex-wives and all of his children support him says a lot about the man.

I had completely forgotten about Renee Richards. Any updates on her, and on the guy that they talked about
who got the surgery done in Denmark while he was in the service?

This interview that was said to be "epic" and "groundbreaking" was a 2 hour bore. This is news worthy stuff? Give me a break. He's not the only celebrity to have major issues. It was dragged (no pun intended) on & on and gave the impression at the end we were to see the "new" Jenner I thought with a dress on or a more feminine attire. Nothing happened that was worth seeing this for. I feel like I got suckered into watching it to the end.

Well clearly you were only watching it for the typical media sensationalism that many people seem to rail against while drooling for it at the same time.

It would have been a disservice to him and the journey he is on to "give the people what they want" and parade around in a dress in front of the camera.

You mean you wanted a 'freak show' rather than an interview with just a real person?

Really, we could have at least had a fashion show of her new clothes.
