The media picks up stories that people care about. It is not the fault of the media if white victims(and their families/friends) of police brutality don't go out and protest, sue, or make noise.
Russell...had a criminal record including convictions for receiving stolen property and robbery and had been involved in a previous police pursuit. Williams had convictions for drug-related charges and attempted abduction...A crack pipe was found in the car.

You're right, the WHITE victims are smart enough to realize that protesting, especially hiring protesters, suing, making noise is not the solution. And besides the Whites don't play the victim as well as the Blacks who have epitomized the drama.
