I agree with you that the government should not be in the healthcare business. Just not fully understanding what you meant about the government not paying for treatment and just asking for clarification because the government would only be paying for treatment for a portion of the population.

That issue was settled a few decades ago. These kids pose no risk in the normal school situation.

I get that kiddo. Why would a sane person inject a Tetanus booster (or anything else) into themselves if they didn't need to? Why wouldn't you just take it if you needed it after-the-fact?

So do you want to make flu shots mandatory too? How about government mandated vitamins?
Agree with you again. Risk is a part of life. It's not the government's job to eliminate all risk. There will always be risk and considering the fact that people own their own bodies, it is immoral and unethical for the government to mandate that people take vaccines so that other people can feel safer.

You have to have the baseline set of immunizations for any booster to do any good! Secondly, it is recommended to get a booster every 10 years, including one dose of Tdap, to protect against pertussis. Many people end up getting their boosters in the ER, b/c they didn't get them on a timely basis at a doctor's visit, or it's been more than 5 years since they did so and they have what is considered a contaminated wound. I once read that there has never been a case of tetanus in a fully-immunized individual.

It is disturbing that 28% of people who voted in the poll agreed with the following statement:
Quote:
The Government has the right to force any vaccine on people that they see fit."
Any vaccine they see fit? really people?

For vaccinations to work properly ALL people need to be vaccinated.

Sorry, there is a price to be able to live in civilization, and you are free to "opt out" of civilization if you don't want the responsibilities that go along with the perks.

Maybe the options in the poll should be more fair then.

That is scary, what are people thinking or not thinking. Probably, voted by people who think "take a pill it will fix my problem, people who look for anything but exercise to lose weight.

The third option seemed safe enough. To think anyone would want government to force any vaccine, seems a bit Nazi!

On a more serious note, can you explain how 'stepping on a rusty nail' or a subsequent case of lockjaw is considered contagious?

Jenny McCarthy's dimwitted aversion to vaccines has far more to do with her own lack of intelligence than any kind of propaganda campaign "the gubment" could ever cobble together. AFAIK, she is the only celebrity that has openly aligned herself with the anti-vaxxer kooks and should be recognized as such.

What I truly find fascinating is that there are people out there that would rather take the medical opinion from a woman with the IQ of a golf shoe who got famous by taking her clothes off for money than they would a licensed medical practitioner.
Uhhh, take a look at the poll Einstein. You'll see 20 or more votes, roughly 1/3 of all respondents, believe the Government should have the power to force Tetanus shots on everyone. They don't care at all if it's contagious.
