Serial tax avoidance appears to be a hallmark of Al Sharpton’s operations. But there’s a warning here: Others have gone to prison for lesser amounts. The list includes rock legend Chuck Berry, Grammy winner Lauryn Hill, Ron Isley of the Isley Brothers, Survivor reality star Richard Hatch, hotel queen Leona Helmsely, and baseball’s Pete Rose (see below).

Because he doesn't owe them, companies he effectively runs do. Plus he has a payment plan arranged.

I suspect thats what makes it more difficult for the IRS to just toss him into jail.

Yup. We always knew Sharpton was part of the 1% club he rails against on a daily basis.

Again, the guy is slimy as all heck in my opinion.....BUT....he has a payment plan with the IRS and is following it. Thats available to anyone with tax issues.

And he doesn't rail against the 1%-he goes for the race angle, and its made him part of the 1%. If I thought it wasn't about the money for him I might respect him, but its TOTALLY about the money for him.

And this has been going on since the early 90's.

Clinton and Bush seemed to recognize Sharpton is toxic and kept their distance.
Obama- not so much. Disappointing from a perception standpoint.

After all the huffing and puffing, Sharpton has no influence.

He shouldn't have influence, yet he does...too sad.

A certain demographic just can't seem to sleep at night without allowing Al Sharpton a prominent role in their colorful dreams. Sharpton must be magnetic. I remember Willie Nelson owing a ridiculous amount of taxes but he was allowed to pay it back with a deal.

As I recall, Willie Nelson had virtually all his belongings and property seized by the IRS and still had to make settlement payments. When are Sharptons companies going to be seized?
