Gay marriage is a useless issue from the start once it's over gays/lesbians can quiet down for a while
until someone finds something else to stir the pot.
seriously though government should have separated themselves from the church from the start but they could not help themselves to the power the church brings.
as a result now gays ask the government for permission instead of their religion/priests.
I want to ask the gays perhaps the religion they believed in was not for them after all, no?

Marriage is a man made construct, not religious. Religion did not start marriage, they took it over. And those 1049 rights that come with a civil marriage do not come with a religious marriage. Getting a marriage license is not about the permission, it is about the protections, rights and benefits that are granted with a civil marriage license. Government got into marriage to prevent the church from screwing up marriage as they have in the past when one religion would be in domination and force the others to have a marriage in their church, that is pretty much why much of America was immigrated to when it started as a country, to get away from religious persecution and domination. So if the church was in control, then who's church, who's religion? Since the Uniterian church and others want to perform same sex marriages, what would be the point, one would forbid it and one would allow it. This is not about religious marriage, it is about civil marriage, the government should not be in the position of favouring religion over the rights of its people, the would make us a theocracy and that we are not.
After the collapse of socialism, gay marriage will collapse as well.
There will be no "benefits" attached.
And since there's no progeny to benefit from the merger of property rights of the respective spouses, there is no logical nor legal reason to contract such a "marriage."
Don't presume this is somehow "anti-homosexual."
If two or more adults wish to merge property rights and endow survivors of the partnership, use a will, not a marriage compact.
AS to the laws that prosecuted "deviant behavior" that's a whole different issue, unrelated to a marriage contract.
Those who consent to be held to a "higher standard" of behavior are in a different category than those who retain their endowed rights of life, liberty, etc.

So over it, it's ridiculous how pedestrian you people sound when you pontificate as to the legal ramifications of this or that, and prescribe legal fixes to problems with broader implications than you ever even deigned to imagine. And the worst part is the use of multi-syllabic words to cloak the reality of a hollow argument.
No. American culture is in decline. ANYTHING goes until we destroy ourselves. Other cultures will replace us. THEY will reject our perversions. Christians will be a persecuted sect with no influence in political culture. Eventually we will be jailed for our Hate Speech/Thoughts.
Without the stabilizing nature of Christianity, we will all lose our rights and freedoms. The American Experiment is coming to an end. The Founders predicted it. I hope they would be pleased that their efforts lasted this long.

gay marriage will be legal in all 50 states within 15 years. In 30 years people will see that the sanctity of straight marriage was not destroyed and will move on from their homophobia.
