Didn't the people of California as recenlty as 2008 vote no on gay marriage? And last time I checked California is not a southern state. The real question is why do liberals want to tell other people how to think, feel, and live?
Interesting. I'm a liberal, and I think that if we get the citizenship/equality under the law/fairness issues right, economic policy will ultimately reflect that.
Not that I don't have some pretty strong opinions about economic issues...

Uh, that vote was also influenced by millions of dollars and a campaign heavily orchestrated by folks from 'out of state' (aka, the LDS church in Utah).
In any case, that was 7 years ago, gay marriage is now legal in California…. and the point of the OP is that Cali, and most other states, aren't still fighting against it…. unlike today and mostly in the "South".

In any case, that was 7 years ago, gay marriage is now legal in California…. and the point of the OP is that Cali, and most other states, aren't still fighting against it…. unlike today and mostly in the "South".

There have been ruling from judges all across the political spectrum that have said the same thing as the prop 8 ruling. The constitution says what it says.
"No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States
nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."
