That's because the "liberal media" was invented by Right Wing Radio ideologues in order to cover up the political misdeeds of the Republican Party.

I mean, in a country with freedom of the press, what is the first institution you try to undermine if you're set on exploiting the average American citizen? The Press, of course. After all the Press is the entity that can expose your party's misdeeds. What a better way to undermine that check to power than to label the Press as "liberal" and your political nemesis? If people can't trust what the Press says about you, you're Scott free to get away with whatever you want.
