Typical JJ if a black team cheats and gets caught its racist. Forget about the cheating . JJ is teaching us all its ok to cheat when your black because JJ will be there to cry racism
Pure jealousy. The Chicago kids were superior because they cheated and that it's OK by me because we're so oppressed..blah blah Fox News blah blah reparations
Again, it's the kids who played. It's their title, not the adults who who are responsible for the infraction. Penalize them. Fire them or fine them, but don't take away the title from the kids.
You do know Little League is volunteer work, correct? When I was a kid in the 70s, I used to umpire and umps got $7 a game whereas no one else got paid a dime. The money ensured I was there in timely fashion as well as remaining impartial.
I hated the bratty little kids but their parents could be the worst aspect of the game; especially when their non-batting kids would strike out or get ejected from a game for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The fact the title was taken from the kids is a shame the adults will bear forever and the kids will see it everyday. That's good enough reason to take it away; it is was ill begotten and should be a lesson to all.
I bet it doesn't happen again....soon.
It was a hell of a ride though. I enjoyed it and so did the rest of the country. Well, besides the bitter Americans who didn't like them.
It's far more enjoyable if done under the uniform rules of competition.
I'm not naive enough to believe that they're the only team cheating...no way. Little League is like bicycle racing, and everyone's knows it. But that's no excuse...getting caught extracts a high price. But that price must be paid.
Taking their championship title was the right thing to do, though I feel sorry for the kids. I don't think that the decision to take it was racist, though I question the motive of those who felt a need to investigate the Chicago team. And the truth is, cheating in the way the coaches and others in charge did doesn't take away from these boys superior athletic ability, so in the end these kids are still winners.
I do wonder what the posts would be like here in SFjr if the teams were switched. if the mostly white LV team were stripped of their title and it was given to the mostly black Chicago team, there would be howls of reverse racism and affirmative action.
Nah-nobody was paying attention to them in Philly where we had Mo'ne Davis and The Taney Dragons.
I did enjoy watching her. That was fun to see.
