And the headline above states The Taliban is back, so does that mean they were gone and are rebuilding? I took it that way.
Explain to me how you think this is a lie?
I am glad you hate GW so bad that you cannot read and comprehend things correctly.
I think it was a lie because I've seen nothing to indicate the Taliban was ever totally eliminated as claimed, all I've read is claims of a resurgent Taliban, not a reincarnated one. What part of stating something that isn't true don't you understand to be what most people call a lie?
And you can stop with the typical uptighty-righty accusation of Bush hatred whenever someone says something in opposition to his actions and policies. I find it fairly easy to comprehend what I read but I also tend to open my eyes before I do so, and hatred requires far too much energy to expend on a second rate political hack.

Hasn't the poppy/opium harvest reached record highs (no pun intended) recently, during our occupation? Can anyone explain that?
The Taliban announced in 2001 that the ban was a success and was validated by our DEA, it for America to aid Afghan farmers. The Taliban threatened farmers growing poppy prison sentences if they did not comply with the ban. When we invaded and the Taliban leadership fell into chaos, there was no one to enforce the ban and the growing resumed.

U.S. forces said on Friday they could hand over security in the vast Western province of Anbar to Iraqi forces as soon as March or April, after a remarkable turnaround of security in the one-time insurgent stronghold.
While Iraq is starting to mellow, the game of wack a mole is moving east.
Afghanistan is once again seeing a resurgence in violence, attacks, and now a staggering rise in suicide attacks.

According to NDP Leader Jack Layton says the Taliban cannot be defeated by international troops and there's no point continuing to fight an unwinnable war in Afghanistan

Also in a statement from the AFP, the US is worried that the international community may abandon its efforts in Afghanistan due to lack of any progress and leave the United States alone in its efforts.
